Overview
This website is operated by Queen City Custom Works, LLC, doing business as Novel Carry. Throughout the site, the terms "we", "us" and "our" refer to Novel Carry. We offer this website, including all information, tools, and services available from it, conditioned upon your acceptance of the terms, conditions, policies, and notices stated here.
By visiting our site or purchasing from us, you engage in our Service and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, including the additional policies referenced here or linked from this page. These terms apply to all users of the site, including browsers, vendors, customers, and merchants.
If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access the website or use any of our services. Any new features or tools added to the store are also subject to these terms.
Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc., which provides the e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products to you.
Part One: Buying from us
Contacting us
Returns, warranty claims, cancellations, and shipment claims should be sent to hi@novelcarry.com or submitted through our contact page. We respond to most messages within 2 business days.
Shipping and risk of loss
In-stock orders ship within about 3 business days. Carrier estimates are not guarantees.
Made-to-order and custom items ship according to the lead time listed on the product page. Delivery timeframes shown at checkout are carrier estimates, and we are not responsible for carrier delays, weather, or customs holds once a package has been handed off.
Risk of loss passes to the customer when the carrier accepts the package, except where Shipment Protection was purchased and applies.
Address accuracy
We ship where you tell us to ship. Address errors are the customer's responsibility.
- Address changes can only be made before a shipping label is generated. Email us right away if you need a correction.
- If a package is undeliverable or returned to us because of an incorrect or incomplete address, we will reship at the customer's expense or refund the order less shipping costs incurred.
- Packages lost or misdelivered due to a customer-supplied address error are not covered by Shipment Protection.
Pre-orders and made-to-order items
Pre-orders are a commitment to purchase and cannot be canceled, unless we run more than 60 days late.
Pre-orders fund the material purchases and machining runs required to produce a product.
- Listed ship dates are estimates based on our production and vendor schedules, and they can move.
- Pre-orders are not cancelable once placed. If a delay exceeds 60 days past the published estimate, we will offer the option to cancel for a full refund.
- Minor changes to finish, tolerances, hardware, or packaging may occur as a design is finalized.
- Orders containing both in-stock and pre-order items ship complete unless you request otherwise.
- If we are unable to produce a pre-ordered item, we refund it in full.
Order changes and cancellations
Cancel any time before a shipping label is created, with a few exceptions.
- For orders requiring the purchase of materials or the shipment of a customer's item to our shop, the refund equals the order total less any shipping and material costs already incurred.
- Pre-order items cannot be canceled. See pre-orders above.
- Engraved and custom items cannot be canceled once production or proofing has begun.
- We may cancel and refund any order at our discretion, including orders that exceed posted purchase limits or contain a pricing or listing error.
Returns and exchanges
30 days, unused and in original packaging. Email us first and we will set it up.
- Contact us to start a return before shipping anything back. Returns sent without an approved request may be delayed.
- Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the return is due to our error. We recommend a tracked service, as returns lost on the way back to us are the customer's responsibility.
- Returns over $100 are subject to a 5% restocking fee covering non-refundable payment processing fees. This fee is waived when store credit is chosen, and does not apply to defective or incorrectly shipped items.
- Returns are inspected on arrival. Items showing use, carry wear, modification, or missing components may be refused or refunded at a reduced amount reflecting the loss in value.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5 business days of inspection. Original shipping charges and Shipment Protection fees are not refundable.
- Exchanges are subject to stock availability. If an item is unavailable we will issue a refund or store credit.
Items that cannot be returned
- Custom, engraved, personalized, or made-to-order items
- Items marked final sale, clearance, seconds, or B-stock
- Gift cards
- Consumables and wear parts, including pen refills, o-rings, and adhesives
- Customer-supplied items sent to us for service
This does not affect your rights if an item arrives defective or is not what you ordered.
Custom, engraved, and customer-supplied work
We make exactly what you approve. Custom work is final sale.
- Customers are responsible for the accuracy of submitted text, spelling, artwork, and files. Where a proof is provided, written approval finalizes the order.
- We may decline custom requests, including artwork we believe infringes third-party intellectual property.
- Engraving depth, contrast, and appearance vary by material and finish. Variation within our normal process is not a defect.
For items shipped to our shop for service:
- Customers are responsible for insuring and packaging inbound shipments. We are not liable for items lost or damaged before they reach us.
- Our liability for a customer-supplied item damaged in our possession is limited to the lesser of its documented purchase value or $500, unless a higher value is agreed in writing before shipment.
- Items left with us more than 90 days after we notify you that work is complete, with no response or return shipping arrangement, are considered abandoned.
- Customers are responsible for ensuring any item shipped to or from us is legal to possess and transport in their jurisdiction, and must be 18 or older to purchase blade-related services.
Materials, patterns, and finishes
No two pieces are identical. We cannot refund based on grain or pattern, but we will make you another set at material cost.
Many of the materials we work with are not homogeneous, so the pattern after finishing is unpredictable. Product photography is representative. Color, anodizing tone, tumble finish, machining marks, and grain vary between units, and variation within our manufacturing tolerances is not a defect. We have made every effort to display product colors accurately, but we cannot guarantee that your display renders color correctly.
If you are unhappy with the pattern you received, we will produce a second set in the same or similar material, billing only for the cost of material. The original set must be returned before a replacement ships.
Limited lifetime warranty
Defects are covered forever, for the original owner. Wear is not a defect.
Novel Carry warrants its products to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for the lifetime of the product, for the original owner. "Lifetime" refers to the service life of the product as originally sold, not the lifetime of the purchaser.
Coverage applies to all Novel Carry branded products, including the Tile Fidget Sliders, Gearling Beads, SlideKick V1, Axial Pen, and ISO Haptic Coin. Any product excluded from lifetime coverage will be marked on its product page.
To make a claim, email hi@novelcarry.com with proof of purchase, a description of the issue, and clear photos. We will repair, replace, or refund the item at our discretion. If a product has been discontinued we may substitute a comparable item or issue store credit.
Warranty service requires the item to be returned to us. The customer covers shipping to us and we cover return shipping on approved claims within the United States. This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original purchaser from Novel Carry or an authorized retailer.
What the warranty does not cover
- Normal wear, including scratches, patina, finish wear, anodizing fade, and wear to moving surfaces
- Misuse, abuse, impact damage, prying beyond intended use, or use as a weapon or striking tool
- Disassembly, modification, refinishing, or repair by anyone other than Novel Carry
- Damage from chemicals, solvents, extreme heat, ultrasonic cleaning, or corrosion
- Loss of magnetic strength resulting from drops, impact, or heat exposure
- Consumables and wear parts, including pen refills, o-rings, and adhesives
- Lost or stolen products
- Cosmetic variation described under materials and finishes
Repairs falling outside warranty coverage may be available as a paid service.
Shipment protection
Covered orders: email us within 14 days of the delivery date. Uncovered orders: risk passes at carrier acceptance, but we will help you file a carrier claim.
Shipment Protection covers only the items in an order for which protection was selected at checkout. Items added to an order without protection selected are not covered. If a covered item is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, the customer may be eligible for a refund or replacement of the affected items at our discretion.
Claims must be submitted to hi@novelcarry.com within 14 days of the confirmed delivery date. Claims submitted outside this window will not be processed.
For shipments with no confirmed delivery, claims are processed after 30 days have elapsed since the most recent carrier transit scan, at which point the shipment is considered lost.
For packages marked delivered but not received, please wait 3 business days before filing, since packages are frequently scanned early or left with a neighbor or leasing office. Check all entrances and with everyone at the address, and contact the carrier to open a trace. Claims on orders over $250 may require a police report.
Customers must complete an affidavit supplied by Novel Carry or its shipping partners. Claims submitted without an affidavit will not be processed, and we may investigate any claim before issuing a refund or replacement.
Shipment Protection does not cover:
- Damage resulting from delivery delays
- Loss or misdelivery due to incorrect shipping information provided by the customer
- Packages forwarded, held, or rerouted at the customer's request after shipment
- Packages refused, abandoned, or seized by customs
Shipment Protection fees are non-refundable once an order ships. We may modify or discontinue Shipment Protection at any time.
Damage on arrival without shipment protection
Where protection was not purchased, risk of loss passes to the customer at carrier acceptance and any claim must be filed by the customer with the carrier. Report visible shipping damage to us within 15 days of delivery with photos of the item, the box, and all packaging, and we will supply documentation to support your claim.
International orders
Duties and taxes are yours. Refusing them does not get you a full refund.
- Import duties, taxes, VAT, and brokerage fees are the customer's responsibility and are not included in our prices or shipping charges.
- Refusing to pay duties does not entitle the customer to a refund. If a refused shipment returns to us, we refund the order less all shipping and customs costs incurred.
- Customers are responsible for confirming the products they order are legal to import and possess in their country. We cannot refund items seized or destroyed by customs.
- International tracking may be limited or delayed once a package leaves the United States.
We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to limit the sale of our products to any person, geographic region, or jurisdiction. Any offer made on this site is void where prohibited.
Limited releases and purchase limits
Some products are released in limited quantities. Where a purchase limit is posted it applies per customer, household, and shipping address. We may limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household, or per order, including orders placed under the same customer account, the same payment method, or the same billing or shipping address. We reserve the right to limit or prohibit orders that in our judgment appear to be placed by dealers, resellers, or distributors.
Where we change or cancel an order, we will attempt to notify you using the contact details provided at the time of purchase.
Pricing, promotions, and errors
- Prices are subject to change without notice. We do not offer retroactive price adjustments when an item later goes on sale.
- Discount codes cannot be applied after an order is placed and cannot be combined unless stated.
- Occasionally the site may contain typographical errors or inaccuracies relating to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, shipping charges, transit times, or availability. We reserve the right to correct any such error and to change, update, or cancel orders at any time without prior notice, including after an order has been submitted.
- We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any product or service at any time, and we are not liable to you or any third party for any such modification, price change, or discontinuation.
Payment disputes
Please come to us first. It is faster and we will fix it.
If something is wrong with your order, contact us before filing a dispute with your bank. We will always try to resolve it directly. We do contest chargebacks filed without contacting us, using order records, tracking, and delivery confirmation.
You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate purchase and account information for all orders, and to keep that information up to date so we can complete your transactions and reach you when needed.
Good faith
These policies are written to be generous and we extend them in good faith. We reserve the right to limit, deny, or cancel orders, returns, warranty claims, and shipment claims where we believe a request is not made in good faith. If we ever decline a request under this section, we will tell you why.

Part Three: Legal
Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
We do not guarantee, represent, or warrant that your use of our Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that the results obtained from use of the Service will be accurate or reliable. We may remove the Service for indefinite periods or cancel it at any time without notice.
You expressly agree that your use of, or inability to use, the Service is at your sole risk. Except as expressly stated in our Limited Lifetime Warranty, the Service and all products delivered through it are provided as is and as available, without representation, warranties, or conditions of any kind, either express or implied, including all implied warranties of merchantability, merchantable quality, fitness for a particular purpose, durability, title, and non-infringement. Where implied warranties cannot be disclaimed under applicable law, they are limited to the duration of our stated warranty.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of a product or order is limited to the amount paid for that product. In no case shall Novel Carry, Queen City Custom Works, LLC, or our directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, contractors, suppliers, service providers, or licensors be liable for any injury, loss, claim, or any direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, special, or consequential damages of any kind, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost savings, loss of data, or replacement costs, whether based in contract, tort including negligence, strict liability, or otherwise, arising from your use of the Service or any product purchased through it, even if advised of their possibility.
Because some states and jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Novel Carry products are precision objects intended for everyday carry, fidget, and light utility use. They are not intended for use as striking tools, weapons, or safety equipment.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Queen City Custom Works, LLC and our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns, and employees from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, made by any third party arising out of your breach of these terms or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
Termination
The obligations and liabilities of the parties incurred prior to the termination date survive the termination of this agreement for all purposes. These terms are effective unless and until terminated by either you or us. You may terminate them at any time by notifying us that you no longer wish to use our services, or by ceasing to use our site.
If in our judgment you fail, or we suspect that you have failed, to comply with any provision of these terms, we may terminate this agreement at any time without notice. You will remain liable for all amounts due up to and including the date of termination, and we may deny you access to our services.
Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these terms is determined to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall nonetheless be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and the unenforceable portion shall be severed without affecting the validity of the remaining provisions.
Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. These terms, together with any policies or operating rules posted by us on this site, constitute the entire agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written, including any prior versions of these terms. Any ambiguities in interpretation shall not be construed against the drafting party.
Governing law
These terms and any separate agreements whereby we provide you services are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Changes to these terms
You can review the most current version of these terms at any time on this page. We reserve the right to update, change, or replace any part of these terms by posting updates to our website. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically. Your continued use of the website following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of those changes.
The terms in effect at the time your order is placed apply to that order.
